Lakes Entrance Fishing Report

Lakes Entrance: The Barrier and up to Nungurner is good for King George Whiting. Myer St Jetty and Post Office Jetty for Trevally on pilchards. Bunga Beach and Lakes Surf Beaches for Salmon on pilchards. Offshore for Pinkies. Flathead and Gummies closer to the beach.

Lake Tyers: There are some Pinkies about, Bream, Flathead and Tailor are also in the system. Bit patchy, so you will need to move around to find them. They are in good numbers when you do, early morning and late afternoon is best.

Mitchell River: The Backwater and the Bridge for Bream, best bait mussels and prawn. River Mouth for Flatties with soft plastics as preferred bait. The Cut and toward the Barrier for Bream on prawn and soft shell.

Tambo River: Best spot for Bream are Howlett’s flats and down to the Three Gums with yabbies and prawn the preferred bait, the Snags are also worth a try.

Nicholson: The Reeds and up towards the Cliffs is best for Bream with worm and prawn as preferred bait. Soft plastics also worth a try.

Metung: The Barrier and the surrounding island and heading toward Nungurner for King George Whiting taking pipis and worm.

Paynesville: Flathead are cruising shallow in Newlands Arm, Duck Arm and Picnic Arm, best results on soft plastics and prawn, Mullet are in the Straits on worm.

Hollands Landing: Lake Victoria for Flounder and good-sized Bream, best results for Bream are lures and most other baits.

Marlo: From town jetty and to Frenchs Narrows for Flathead, best results using lures. Bream are in the Snowy and the Brodribb River System, best bait being worm and prawn. Surf for Salmon, Tailor and Bronze Sharks.

Bemm River: Surf for Salmon on pilchards, poppers and metal lures. In the lake for Bream and flathead with soft plastics as preferred bait. Try the channel trolling with lures for Tailor.

Tamboon Inlet: Silver Whiting are at the large sand dune taking worm. Trevally and Flathead at Pelican Point taking pilchard. The river mouth for Bream taking Prawn and worm. The surf for Salmon.

Mallacoota: Surf for Salmon on pilchards and poppers. Bottom Lake for flatties taking lures. Bream are about in the Top Lake chasing prawn and lures. The early morning for Bream and Flatties in The Narrows on prawn and lures.

Omeo High Country: Not much water in the rivers, best spot is the Mitta Mitta using worm, hoppers and fly patterns.
