Lakes Entrance Fishing Report

Lakes Entrance: The Post Office Jetty is a real “hot spot” for Trevally and Tailor on pilchard and white bait. All other town jetties are also fishing well. Nungurner for King George Whiting on worm and shrimp. Offshore the water temp. is 12 degrees and still producing Pinkies and Morwong on squid and pilchard.

Lake Tyers: Best spots for Bream are Long Point and Muddy Point areas. Best bait is worm. Most of those being caught are around 32-36 cm.

Mitchell River: Bream are about from the river mouth, Two Bells, The Bluff and up around Shadoof Lodge with bait of choice being worm and prawn.

Tambo River: From Marshalls Flat to the Rough Road and towards Bennett’s Brook Bream are taking with prawn and worm.

Nicholson: From the Highway Bridge down to the river mouth for Bream, try floating and drifting bait of prawn in the weed beds for best results.

Metung: The town jetties are good spots for Bream. The Hotel Jetty is producing good size fish with prawn as bait. Whiting at Nungurner Jetty and around Flanagan Island on worm and shrimp.

Paynesville: Bream and Mullet are still to be had in the Strait using shrimp and worm. Newlands Arm is producing Bream on prawn and shrimp.

Hollands Landing: Plover Point, The Strait and through to Bull Bay for Bream and Mullet on prawn and worm. Also give Tom’s Creek a try.

Marlo: Bream, Mullet and Luderick are still active in the rivers. The town jetties for Salmon and Tailor taking pilchard, white bait and lures. Offshore for Pinkies and Gummies.

Tamboon Inlet: From the river mouth and up to Furnell Landing for Bream on worm and shrimp. The river mouth at the entrance on the incoming tide is producing Salmon smacking lures.

Bemm River: The lake is producing Bream with prawn as the bait. From the river mouth and heading up stream around structures for Bream. The surf for Salmon on poppers and pilchard.

Mallacoota: Genoa and Wallagaraugh Rivers for Bream. Also try the Top and Bottom Lakes. The best bait being yabbies. The Main Wharf for Luderick on weed. Trevally at Fisheries Wharf taking chicken. Salmon and Tailor are chasing lures and plastics.

Omeo High Country: Season opens this week end but please check the size regulations as these have changed.
