Lakes Entrance: The town jetties for mackerel and tailor, best bait being pilchard. Eastern Beach for salmon taking lures, pilchard and poppers. Offshore for pinkies and morwong. At Six Mile Reef a 158kg swordfish was landed. Closer to the beach for flathead and gummies.
Lake Tyers: Bream are in the deeper holes from the island and up past Cameron’s Arm and Devils Hole. Best bait prawn and hard bodied lures. Flathead are in the shallow waters towards Nowa Nowa taking soft plastics. In the front lake for snapper from 45- 65cm. Also trevally taking pilchard. The surf for salmon on pilchard and poppers.
Mitchell River: Bream at Eagle Point to the river mouth on spider crab and worm. Some flathead are about. The Wyung Bridge for perch, best time late afternoon and evening. Baits to use are soft plastics and diving lures.
Tambo River: From Clues Bluff and down to the river mouth is best for bream on shrimp and prawn.
Nicholson: Bream are about Pear Tree and The Swimming Hole. Best results using local prawn on the float or drifting prawn around weed beds.
Metung: The Marina and Boardwalk towards Chinaman’s Creek for bream with frozen prawn as preferred bait, also try the shallows at night using spider crab or live prawn for bream.
Paynesville: The Strait and town jetties for bream on shrimp. Eagle Point Bay for mullet on worm. In Lake Victoria for tailor with lures for best results.
Hollands Landing: The strait for bream taking prawn and worm. Tom’s Creek up towards the wharf for bream on fresh prawn and shrimp.
Marlo: The river system is still producing bream and mullet. Try soft plastics, prawn and worm. The surf for salmon and tailor, best baits are pilchard and poppers.
Bemm River: The river mouth, the main lake and deep water areas are producing bream, tailor with some luderick, using local prawn and lures. The surf beach at Pearl Point for salmon and tailor.
Tamboon Inlet: Pinkies 32-35cm at the football ground. Bream at the river mouth on fresh cut crab and prawn. Plenty of prawns in the lake and the surf for salmon
Mallacoota: Snapper at Fisheries Jetty and The Narrows taking pilchard. The Bottom Lake for Flathead on lures and the Betka River and Top Lake for bream and flathead on lures and prawn.
Omeo High Country: The rivers are still low, best results with flies, metal lures, wobblers and worm.
