Lakes Entrance: Snapper are at the rocky area of the North Arm, also at the Myers St jetty on large drifting pilchard. Trevally are also cruising about. Salmon at Eastern Beach on pilchards, poppers and lures. Offshore at Ocean Grange 8kg snapper, flathead and gummies closer to the beach on pilchard and squid.
Lake Tyers: The bream are a little hard to find but try the top of the Nowa Nowa arm around Devils Hole. Flatties in shallow bank areas, best results using prawn and soft plastics
Mitchell River: Best spots for bream are at the barrier, shadoof lodge, the cut and two bells. The river mouth and at the entrance into Lake King are worth a try, best bait prawn, plastics and lures
Tambo River: Bream are about but you will need to be on the move. The highway bridge, the snags, blue hole and the cliffs are best spots, try local prawn and soft plastics
Nicholson: Best spots for bream, mullet and flatties are at the cliffs, car bodies and strait six, best results using prawn, shrimp and worm. Trawling with lures could land you a tailor or two.
Metung: The boardwalk and bowran point are best for flatties taking prawn and soft plastics. Box’s creek to bell point for bream
Paynesville: Bream are a bit quiet but try Newlands Arm. Picnic arm and duck arm on prawn and plastics. Yellow eyed mullet are in shallow banks. Best results using worm. Give ocean grange a shot of the beach for salmon, gummies.
Hollands Landing: The mouth of the Latrobe river for bream, Seacombe landing for bream fishing close to the bank, also try wood pile and blonde bay for bream and flatties on peeled prawn
Marlo: Town bridge for bream on prawn, some mullet and luderick are around. Surf for salmon on pilchard and lures, off shore for gummies, flatties, kingfish and pinkies
Bemm River: Bream are in the lake taking surface lures and plastics. Try the channel for tailor and flatties. Surf for salmon on lures, poppers and pilchards
Tamboon Inlet: Shallow water area for flatties on prawn and plastics, Pelican point for bream and old man point, egans bank and the football ground are also good to try, best bait being prawn.
Mallacoota: Still windy but catching Salmon on the beach. Flathead in the Bottom Lake in the channel taking prawn and plastics. Trevally at Fisheries wharf on pilchard and lures. Bream in Top Lake and the narrow on yabbies and prawn.
Omeo High Country: Anglers Rest, Livingstone and Mitta Mitta rivers are worth a look but lacking rain to freshen up the rivers. Best results using hoppers, spinners and flies.
