Lakes Entrance Fishing Report

Lakes Entrance: King fish and flathead on the Myer St jetty using pilchards. Plenty of salmon on Eastern Beach and Lake Bunga Beach using lures. Fraser Island to Nungurner has king george whiting taking worm and pippies. Offshore at six mile reef for snapper, flathead and gummies closer to the beach.

Lake Tyers: Flathead at the Glass House banks on pilchards and lures. Bream at Blackfellow’s Arm and Long Point taking worm and prawn.

Mitchell River: Bream are at Grassy Banks on prawn, soft shell and crab. Garfish are about the Eagle Point boat ramp and the cut. Flathead are at the river mouth of the Mitchell River on soft plastics.

Tambo River: Best spot for bream at the moment is from the boat ramp to the river mouth using worm and peeled prawn.

Nicholson: Best spot for bream is the river mouth with local prawn, letting it drift or under a float, around weed beds. Some tailor may be about trolling with metal lures for best results.

Metung: Bream are about the Bury Slipway and towards Boxes Creek using fresh prawn. Some whiting is still around the Shaving Point area on worm and pippies.

Paynesville: Juvenile kingfish are still around Newlands Arm and Duck Arm. Flathead are taking prawn and worm. Mullet on worm in the strait.

Hollands Landing: Lake Victoria for flathead and sand whiting. Flounder and prawns at Point Wilson. The surf for flathead and gummies on pilchards.

Marlo: Brodribb and Lake Corringle for perch using live prawn. Along the sand flats for dusty flathead on worm and prawn. Bream are around the islands and down to the entrance. The surf for salmon and tailor. Off shore is fishing well.

Bemm River: In the channel for flathead on soft plastics. Bream are a bit harder to find but will take prawn. The surf for salmon on pilchards and poppers.

Tamboon Inlet: Pelican Point for flathead around 90cm on blue bait. Peter’s Rock for bream on worm. Plenty of prawns are available.

Mallacoota: The surf for salmon on the incoming tide taking pilchards and poppers. Top Lake for bream and flathead, best bait yabbies and lures. Tailor are also cruising the lake taking lures.

Omeo High Country: Try all the major rivers but you will need to work for good results, try lures, plastics and hoppers.
