Lakes Entrance: All town jetties are good for mullet, bait of choice being worm. The islands and the Barrier are still producing whiting on worm. Getting the odd salmon on the surf beaches, offshore, the shelf for blue eyed harpuka taking squid and mackerel. Still plenty of gummies, snapper and flathead nearer to the beach.
Lake Tyers: Best result for bream and flathead which are throughout the lake system, try an area and keep moving about. Best bait for flatties being soft plastics and all other baits. Bream on pilchard and prawn
Mitchell River: The river mouth is producing flathead on soft plastics and prawn. Bream are at Grassy Banks and up to Shadoof Lodge, best results using spider crab, prawn and diving hard bodied lures
Tambo River: Best spot for Bream is from the boat ramp to the snags and the mouth of the river. Best results using worm and local prawn.
Nicholson: From boat ramp and towards river mouth for bream, flatties and mullet. Best results using floating or drifting pawn and worm in shallow area at river mouth
Metung: Boardwalk, Chinaman’s Creek and Boxes Creek for bream, mullet and maybe perch. Try night time for larger bream use live prawn and spider crab
Paynesville: Best spot for bream, trevally, mullet in the strait best bait being shrimp, peeled prawn and worm. Also the southern side jetty on Raymond Island for flatties, bream and mullet on some baits.
Hollands Landing: Lake Victoria and Hollands Landing are the best for flatties and bream taking most baits and surface lures, bent minnows and deepwater blades.
Marlo: Offshore fishing well with kingfish, flatties and gummies, Estuary is a bit patchy at the moment. Prawns are still being taken in the system. Surf for salmon and tailor on blue bait, pilchards, poppers and lures
Bemm River: Entrance is still closed bream are in the lake taking prawn as preferred bait. Surf for salmon, best result using blue bait, pilchards, poppers and also metal lures
Tamboon Inlet: Fishing the shallows at river mouth for bream, mullet, flathead and tailor, best results using soft plastics, lures and diving minnows. Also mud point using live or dead baits
Mallacoota: Top and Bottom Lake for bream and flatties, best baits lures, prawns and bass yabbies. Surf for salmon on pilchards on poppers. Fisheries Jetty for tailor in the early morning on pilchards
Omeo High Country: Mitta Mitta River is producing good fun on soft plastics, lures wobblers and spinners. Anglers Rest also worth a try.
