Lakes Entrance: Prawns are about in shallow waters. The Barrier for Whiting on worm and pippi. Myer Street and all town jetties for Trevally on pilchard. Offshore for Snapper. Flathead are closer in toward the beach. Best baits are pilchard and squid. Surf beach for Salmon on pilchard and give lures a go.
Lake Tyers: Bream are about Devil’s Hole and down around Blackfellows Arm taking prawn. Flathead are in the main lake taking all baits. Snapper in deeper water taking drifting bait with no sinker. Try surf for Salmon.
Mitchell River: From the river mouth to “grassy banks” for Bream. Perch are at the Wy Yung bridge taking greenish colour and clear soft plastics. 1.5Kg Trout are being spotted around the meeting of the Wellington and Mitchell Rivers on spinning lures.
Tambo River: Bream are cruising from Clues Bluff, Marshalls Flats and the “three gums”. Best results using prawn, worm and live shrimp.
Nicholson: Down at the river mouth and around Thumb Point are the best spots for Bream taking fresh sand worm. There are some Garfish around as well.
Metung: Flathead are about Bowran Point and Box’s Creek taking soft plastics and prawn. Tambo Bay is producing good local prawns at the moment.
Paynesville: Tailor are to be found around the town jetties chasing lures as bait of choice. Still plenty of local prawns and king prawns about. Try surf for Salmon and “Gummies” on pilchard and squid.
Hollands Landing: Plover Point, Botts Point and all along the Strait and into Blonde Bay for Bream, Flathead and Mullet. The rock groyn area is worth a look using worm.
Marlo: Frenchs Narrows is best spot for good size Flathead. The estuaries are producing Bream, Mullet and Prawns. Surf for Salmon, Tailor and “Gummies”. Offshore has “Gummies”, Flathead and Kingfish at the Marlo Reef.
Bemm River: Bream at still cruising the lake taking soft plastics and worm. Flathead are cruising the shallows on soft plastics with some Tailor about. Surf for Salmon on usual baits.
Tamboon Inlet: Bream are around Furnells Landing taking worm and fresh prawn. Old Man Point and the camp site for Flathead on prawn and blue bait. Also give the football ground a try.
Mallacoota: Both top and bottom lakes are producing good Bream and Flathead on yabbies and soft plastics. Salmon and Tailor are around the Fisheries Jetty also some Luderick taking weed, lures and pilchard. Offshore for Flathead and “Gummies”.
Omeo High Country: Still no rain to freshen up the rivers but try dry flies and hoppers. Also give spinning lures a go.
