Lakes Entrance: Lake Bunga and Eastern Beach for Salmon taking blue bait. Town jetties and the footbridge have Trevally biting on blue/white bait and pilchard. Offshore at Six Mile Reef for “Pinkies”, Trevally and Morwong. Best bait being pilchard and squid. Try further out wide in deeper water for Broadbill.
Lake Tyers: Good size Bream being caught from Camerons Arm to Nowa Nowa on prawn and worm. 85cm to 95cm Flathead being caught mid-afternoon around the island and up past Camerons Arm. Long Point and Crystal Bay for Bream and Flathead. Salmon are being caught off the surf taking all baits.
Mitchell River: Perch are about the Wy Yung bridge with best results using soft plastics, hard bodied lures and poppers. For Bream, try Grassy Banks and up to Shadoof Lodge. Best bait being prawn and spider crab. The mouth of the river is also worth a look.
Tambo River: Whelan’s and Rough Road for Bream taking sand worm. Flathead are about from the power lines and up to the blue hole. Try lures and prawn.
Nicholson: Between the two bridges and up to the Strait Six for good size Bream. Best results using prawn and worm. There are some juvenile Bream about.
Metung: Town jetties and the boardwalk have Bream. Bait of choice being sand worm. Chinamen’s and Box’s Creek are also worth a look.
Paynesville: Dolphins are about and active. Try the town jetties and the Strait were there are some hiding places and sheltered areas, using prawn and worm as preferred bait.
Hollands Landing: McLennans Strait , the woodpile and Holland’s Landing are best spots for Bream. Also try Tom’s Creek and Jones Bay, using spider crab, white bait, prawn and worm
Marlo: Around the islands for Bream, Luderick and Perch. Best results using prawn, worm and lures. Some Mullet around Mots Beach and blue hole. Surf for Salmon and Tailor biting on pilchards and poppers.
Tamboon Inlet: The river mouth for Bream around 40c, taking cut crab. Tailor are to be found in the lake, trolling with metal lures for best results.
Bemm River: Surf for Salmon, Tailor and Trevally taking poppers, pilchard and blue bait. Bream in the lake taking soft plastics, worm, prawn and vibes. Tailor are in the channel. Trolling with lures for best results.
Mallacoota: Offshore for “Gummies” on Salmon fiillets. Bream are in the Top and Bottom Lakes taking yabbies and lures. Fisheries jetty for Luderick on weed. Early morning on incoming tide for best results.
Omeo High Country: It has been brought to our attention that it is “closed season” until Saturday 2 nd September, 2017.
