Lakes Entrance: The Post Office Jetty has mullet, trevally and tailor. Bait of choice peeled prawn. Try Eastern Beach for salmon on silver lures and blue bait. Off shore is a bit quiet but plenty of seals and whales to be seen.
Lake Tyers: The entrance is open. Bream are about at the back side of the islands on the incoming tide with prawn as the preferred bait. The surf has salmon on lures, pilchards and poppers. No 2 boat ramp is closed for repairs.
Mitchell River: Eagle Point and down to the river mouth for bream taking metal vibes and worm. The Highway Bridge has mullet taking worm and perch on green soft plastics.
Tambo River: Rough road, Punthouse Point and down to the mouth of the river for bream taking worm and prawn.
Nicholson: From the reeds and up through the cliffs are good spots for bream taking prawn and worm.
Metung: Along the boardwalk and up to Chinaman’s Creek for bream, bait of choice being prawn. Try the rock wall and Metung Wharf as well.
Paynesville: Mullet and bream are active along the main wharf on worm and prawn. The lake has tailor with the best results trolling with lures. Some flathead are along the shallow banks on white bait.
Hollands Landing: From the strait and heading towards Tom’s Creek for salmon, bream and mullet at dusk. Best bait being prawn and worm.
Marlo: Bream are around the island taking sandworm, prawn and crab. Some estuary perch are about. Try the surf for salmon and tailor, best results using poppers and pilchards. Off shore for gummies and flathead on pilchard and squid.
Tamboon Inlet: Eagan’s Bank, Aeroplane Rock, Peter’s Rocks and weed beds around the inlet for mullet, bream and luderick taking prawn and worm.
Bemm River: Bream are about in the main lake, mahogany’s and mud lake but you will be need to be patient and work for best results. Best bait is worm and prawn.
Mallacoota: The beach has salmon on pilchard and poppers. Luderick on the incoming tide at the fisheries and Main Wharf. Some small trevally are about. Try the Top Lake bream taking fresh water yabbies. Genoa and Wallagaraugh for bream on prawn.
Omeo High Country: It is now a “closed season” until 1st Saturday in September, 2015.
