Lakes Entrance: Fishing has improved with warmer water temperatures. Trevally and Mullet can be found about the town jetties around dusk. Bait of choice being white bait. Nungurner Jetty and surrounding areas for King George Whiting approx. 96gm mark, taking worm and prawn. Offshore, Six Mile Reef for Pinkies, Murwong and Leather Jackets. Biting on squid and pilchard.
Lake Tyers: With the warmer water, Bream and Flathead are taking plastics and lures. School Whiting on the incoming tide are taking worm. Leather Jackets and Tailor taking worm. Salmon are at the Bluff. Nowa Nowa and to Devil’s Hole for Bream and Blackfellow’s Arm for Tailor. Prawn being the best bait.
Mitchell River: Shadoof Lodge and towards the mouth for Bream on crab, prawn and worm. From the “back water” and highway bridge, taking Bream, Perch and Mullet on worm and prawn.
Tambo River: Rough road and up to the Swan Reach Bridge, at early morning or around evening for Bream, taking sand worm, shrimp and spider crab. At the mouth for Trevally taking worm.
Nicholson: From the highway bridge and down to the river mouth for Bream around 42cm taking peeled prawn and worm.
Metung: For boaties, Bancroft Bay, Bell Point and Nungurner for King George Whiting and Flathead around the shallows. Best bait is sand worm and prawn. Town jetties and Shaving Point are worth a look.
Paynesville: Surf beach for Trevally and Salmon, taking pilchard and fish fillets. There is a lot of fine weed about. The banks are good for King George Whiting, taking worm. Some Tailor can be found around the channels, taking lures.
Hollands Landing: The wood pile, straits and Tom’s Creek for Bream, taking peeled prawn and worm.
Marlo: From highway bridge, down to the entrance and all the rivers and lake system is producing Mullet, Bream, Perch and Luderick around the rock groynes. Best bait being sand worm and crab. Salmon and Tailor in the narrow’s. Surf for Salmon and Tailor on poppers and pilchard. Offshore for Shark and Flathead.
Tamboon Inlet: Peach Tree Creek, Fisherman’s Landing, Mud Point and around the islands for Bream, Mullet and Tailor, taking prawn and lures. Try shallow bank areas for Flathead.
Bemm River: The river and lake are producing Bream, Flathead and Whiting. Best bait being peeled prawn and worm. Also give the surf a go.
Mallacoota: Offshore for King Fish and “Gummies”. Last weekend had a “lure only” comp., with good sized Bream at 1kg and over taken in both the top and bottom lakes. Surf for Salmon, also taking lures.
Omeo High Country: Livingstone Creek, Cobunga River and Anglers Rest are all good spots for Trout. Bait of choice being worm and lures.
