Lakes Entrance Fishing Report

Lakes Entrance: Post Office and Ferryman‘s jetties have Slimy Mackerel, Trevally and Mullet biting on pilchard. Juvenile Kingfish at Footbridge taking soft plastic minnows. Flanagan’s and Fraser Island for Whiting on pippi and worm. Offshore for Morwong, Pinkies and “Gummy” Shark on looming full moon. Best bait being pilchard and squid.

Lake Tyers: Flathead are taking soft plastics and prawn as well as live bait throughout the lake system. The new No. 2 boat ramp for Tailor and Bream on pilchard and prawn. Bream are around Crystal Bay and Cherry Tree.

Mitchell River: Silt jetties for Bream which are taking all baits. Tailor are heading upstream towards highway bridge chasing garfish and lures.

Tambo River: Punt House Point and heading towards the river mouth are best spots for Bream chasing fresh prawn early morning. Try dusk as well.

Nicholson: From the Little Cliffs and heading towards “thumb point” for Bream. Best bait being prawn; also try live prawn and worm.

Metung: Nungurner Jetty, Flanagan’s and Fraser Island for Whiting. Also try the south channel and up to Baxter Island for School Whiting, biting on pippi and worm.

Paynesville: Progress Jetty has King George Whiting, best results using worm. Newlands Arm for Flathead taking soft plastics and hard bodied lures. Trolling is best. Small Bream are also about. A full moon is on the rise, so surf for “Gummies” is worth a shoot.

Hollands Landing: Bream are about at Tom’s Creek as well at the “Bream Hole” near the White Cliff. Bream, Luderick and Mullet at Seacombe Landing, best baits being prawn, worm and whitebait.

Marlo: Fish in the system has gone a bit quiet but fish are about, you may need to work for them. Surf will still have Salmon with odd Tailor on pilchards and poppers. Offshore, if you can get out will produce good results.

Tamboon Inlet: Surf beach for Salmon taking popper and pilchard. “Gummies” on full moon, pilchard and squid for best results. Bream and Flathead are about. Try Pelican Point, Old Man Point and shallow lagoon with live prawn or peeled prawn for best results.

Bemm River: Flathead and Tailor are in the channel, best results using soft plastics and live prawn. Bream are at Pelican Point taking frozen local prawn. With a full moon on the rise, try surf beach for “Gummies”.

Mallacoota: Offshore for Flathead and Kingfish taking pilchards. Flathead at the “killing fields” early morning on lures. Luderick at main wharf and fisheries. Best results using mussel and weed on incoming tide. Top lake for Yellow Fin Bream and also at eight foot bank taking lures.

Omeo High Country: Livingstone Creek, Buchan and the top end of the Tambo Rivers, as well as Anglers Rest for Trout taking flies, wobbler and worm.
