If you're looking for a break from the daily grind over the winter months, consider hitching up your caravan, or hiring a motorhome, and experience the natural wonders of East Gippsland.
Lakes Entrance is home to many quality Caravan Parks, offering all those facilities road-warriors require. A hot shower, washing machines and the comfort and safety of other travellers.
Secure your spot in a Caravan Park, then venture out to explore the natural diversity the Gippsland Lakes has to offer. Head north into the High Country, taking in Buchan, Bruthen and the stunning Buchan Caves. A natural limestone formation created millions of years ago.
Errinundra National Park is within an hours drive towards Orbost. Boasting some of the largest Old Growth forests in East Gippsland, these monstrous trees equal anything Australia has to offer. See tree ferns, wildlife and rainforests on marked trails throughout the region.
My favourite are the lonely secluded beaches. But that's another story.
Lakes Entrance has a Dump Point located at the Skatepark boat ramp, near the Visitor Information Centre. Free Camping for fully self-contained vehicles is available at Burnt Bridge, on the northern entrance of the Princes Hwy to Lakes Entrance. Another site is being proposed by the EG Shire, at the top of Kalimna Hill, but details are scant at the moment. More info on that coming.
