artsfestival in May
be inspired ... e-motions
Gippsland is home to an enormous and growing Arts Festival, this year based on the theme of e-motions.
Organisers, Creative Gippsland, have chosen the image for this years Festival, from an entry submitted by Darryl Whittaker.
Seen on the left, it’s a photograph of the inflatable Creative Gippsland Caravan, which will be travelling around Gippsland accompanying arts events during the Festival.
The caravan is very appropriate to the 2012 event, as there will be a live show, entitled Caravan Burlesque, performed in each Shire by Finucane and Smith.
They’re a globally acclaimed salon of seductive, subversive and electrifying acts, and they’re flying straight from their South American tour to spend a month in Gippsland.
Bruthen will host two shows on Friday May 4 and Saturday May 5 at the Mechanics Hall in Bruthen.
Bbaa Arts Hub in Yarragon are having their opening night on May 2, from 6-9pm at The Hub. Their focus is eMOTION meets eART. A cocktail of of motion with emotion, spliced with the global “e” for online communication.
Sculpture in the gardens of Archies on the Creek is happening on Saturday, May 5. Meeting the emotional response of wanting to touch, hold and caress art. Top sculptors from the region will have their work on display.
Yinnar will host Gippsland’s Creative Waste Exhibition, showcasing re-used, remade and re-loved creations and inventions. Opening on Saturday, May 19 at 2pm, and contining through to June 9, 2012.
