Fishing What's On
The Twin Rivers Bream Classic
The Twin Rivers Bream Classic for recreational anglers will be held on the 17th and 18th of July, 2010, at Johnsonville, on the Tambo River, East Gippsland.
Competitors are able to fish on the Mitchell,Tambo and Nicholson Rivers, the Gippsland Lakes and Lake Tyers. The competition, based on teams of between two and four anglers fishing from the river bank or from boats, over two days, is open to all people and all age groups.
Saturday evening includes a family barbeque with local group “The Longhorns” providing musical entertainment at the Johnsonville Jetty, Punt Road Johnsonville. A barbeque lunch on Sunday, where prize winners will be announced at 1 pm.

Bulls Cruisers Fish Off
It will run from June to Sept and all hirers at Bulls Cruisers will have a chance to win in the total prize pool of over $10,000. The major prize a BMT package supported by Makocraft boats, Honda Marine, Club Marine, Dunbier trailers & Paynesville Bait Shack.
With the water quality the best we have seen for a long time, lovely autumn weather and good fishing reports we are trying to spread the word with what our amazing lakes have to offer over winter. Some of the local Paynesville businesses have contributed discount vouchers etc and all hirers in the fishing comp will receive a bag with freebies, vouchers, magazines etc.
We have had some fantastic support from Paynesville businesses in particular the Paynesville Bait Shack.

Fishing Report 28th July, 2010
- Lakes Entrance: Plenty of Mullet are biting under the Highway bridge and in the North Arm. A few Tailor have also been caught. Trevally are still “on the go”, at the “Barrier Landing” and the “Scallop Wharf”. Best bait is pilchard.

Lake Tyers: Report:- Cold and clear water has made fishing slow during the day. At dusk the “Glasshouse” area is producing Bream on prawn and crab. The top end of Nowa Nowa Arm, has been good for Bream and Luderick at night time, if you brave the cold.
- Mitchell River: Bream have been taken around “The Cut” on peeled prawn and soft plastics.
- Tambo River: Fishing around the “Mouth”, close to shore is resulting in good catches of Mullet, Bream and Luderick. Best baits are shrimp, sandworm and crab.
- Nicholson: Mullet are biting at the “Swimming Hole” with Bream around the Highway Bridge, using sandworm and prawn.
- Metung: Bream and Luderick are biting off the jetties, on shrimp and prawn.
- Paynesville: Report: “Wave Bridge: has Mullet taking sandworm, with some Tailor being caught on hard bodied lures.
- Hollands Landing: Bream and Mullet are “on the chew” at the boatramp, using sandworm and peeled prawn.
- Marlo: Fish are moving in the rivers, with Bream, Mullet, Luderick and Estuary Perch taking sandworm, prawn and soft plastics. The Beach is producing Salmon and Tailor on bluebait and silver lures.
- Bemm River: “The Channel” is the spot for Luderick, using sandworm.
- Mallacoota: Plenty of Leatherjacket have been caught off the wharf on squid. Schools of Salmon are in the lake and off the beach, biting on silver lures and bluebait. The Wallagaraugh river has good size Bream “on the go” using prawn and soft plastics.
